IMD invests in A+V to complete global coverage with Latin America network

February 26th 2014, Santiago de Chile and London

This significant investment in A+V, the only local, pan Latin American delivery company, confirms IMD’s position as operating the most extensive video commercial delivery network across every continent.

The agreement between A+V and IMD brings substantial capital and technology contributions to A+V’s pan Latin American business. A+V and its customers will also benefit from IMD’s 17 years of experience in digital TV commercial delivery across Europe and Asia Pacific.

A+V is in the process of finalizing the establishment of its operations in nine Latin American countries, extending IMD’s direct interest in digital delivery operations to over 30 countries. Together with IMD’s Global Media Network Partners this creates by far the most extensive global delivery network available and the only one covering every continent.

Simon Cox, CEO of IMD, who joins A+V’s board, commented: “Latin America is embracing the digital delivery of TV commercials bringing efficiencies to local and global clients. We have tremendous respect for what A+V has done and share the same values of honesty and great customer service. This is a very natural commercial and cultural fit that will help build the best service for customers and media owners across Latin America.  It makes IMD the provider of choice for global delivery solutions.”

Alejandro Albertini, CEO of A+V said: “IMD’s experience in the development of digital networks, knowledge of the industry and our common vision of how the distribution of advertising content is changing is vital to achieving our goals in the region.”

Audio Loudness. How’s it measured by IMD Cloud?

Our philosophy is that delivery providers should never touch video or audio supplied to us, keeping TVC content true to itself and to its creator. Creative decisions are always yours.

So how does it work?
IMD Cloud has built proprietary cloud-based software that automatically measures:

  • ITU-R BS.1770-3 Loudness
  • True Peak audio levels
  • Conventional audio peaks
  • Frame silence - audio below -60dBFS

We run real-time quality control checks as soon as content is uploaded by senders. These checks happen straight away, before deliveries are sent to broadcasters. Checks are specific to broadcaster requirements across market.

Australian broadcaster audio requirements:

  • Loudness: -24LKFs with a tolerance of +/-1LKFs
  • Max True Peak Levels: -2dBTP
  • 12 frames silence top and tail

New Zealand, Singapore & India broadcaster audio requirements:

  • Loudness: -24LKFs with a tolerance of +/-1LKFs
  • Max True Peak Levels: –9dBTP

Indonesia broadcaster audio requirements:

  • Loudness: -22LKFs with a tolerance of +/-3LKFs
  • Max Peak Levels: –9dBFS

If something needs to be changed, senders get told straight away via a full technical report (see below) on what needs to be changed; saving time, cost and resource.

If QC fails and changes need to be made, there is no charge for uploading a new file and trying the QC again.

Below is an example of a QC failure. What’s wrong is shown at the top in red: it’s clear that peak audio is too high on channel 1 & 2 (left and right):

Below is an example of the audio section we provide in all QC reports:

This is a free service for all IMD Cloud users and is immediately available.

As you can imagine, the team is very interested in the topic. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us on info@imdcloud.net

06 Feb 2013
IMD has acquired the eBUS Media Network to create a substantial worldwide footprint for digital TV ad delivery, with a local presence across major countries in Europe and Asia-Pacific and a regional HQ in Singapore.

Customers are set to benefit as the move will bring a faster and more efficient digital delivery solution from a single provider to the increasing number of clients with interests spanning Europe and Asia-Pacific.

IMD will strengthen its digital TV ad delivery service in Asia-Pacific where eBUS has established a peerless reputation as the most reliable and the fastest service in the region with the widest geographical offering.

Other valuable eBUS customer advantages include native HD support, 24/7 access and automatic quality control.

IMD CEO, Simon Cox, says: “eBUS fits amazingly well with IMD in so many ways; it’s territorially complementary, it’s very focused on TV ad delivery, just like IMD, and we have the same cultural and customer service values. On top of that, eBUS has a brilliant technology platform created by an exceptionally talented team.”

A critical factor in the acquisition has been the strong management team at eBUS, led by CEO Carmine Masiello who has 20 years of experience in the IT and media industries.

Carmine Masiello, CEO eBUS, says: “IMD’s investment in eBUS will speed up our expansion in the Asia Pacific region. We look forward to being supported by a shareholder that combines financial strength with an intimate understanding of what we do and who we are.”
